The Pieces Top in 100% European hemp knit jersey. A cool top to wear on a hot day. 

Comfortable, flattering and boxy with a lovely drape, this hemp version of our Pieces Top was originally designed to use up small offcuts of fabrics to ensure very little fabric waste. Features airy sleeves with a gentle cuff and a short waist so it sits at a flattering length with skirts and high waist pants or dresses without the need to tuck in. Airy, cool and super comfortable.

Hemp is such a beautiful fibre for the planet and people. This exquisite fabric is made from hemp which is grown and knitted in the EU. Hemp is highly absorbent, it takes up water rapidly and also releases it quickly so on hot days this helps in regulating the microclimate between body and clothing, much like merino wool! But unlike wool hemp is a fibre with poor heat-conducting properties, clothes made from it always feel cool. In addition, hemp - like wool - has been shown to slow the build-up of odorous bacteria, keeping clothes fresher for longer and requiring less frequent washing. The slubby and relaxed look of the fabrics makes hemp a good choice for breezy and summer clothing. And in the thicker qualities of hemp fabric, like those produced in Europe, have good UV-resistant properties.

Hemp's eco credentials:

Hemp is the key to our future! It is a densely grown plant that is fast growing, sequesters carbon and literally chokes out any competing plants. This means harsh chemical herbicides aren’t necessary. Hemp also naturally reduces pests, so no pesticides are needed. It also returns 60-70% of the nutrients it takes from the soil. Hemp production requires much less water than cotton, and only requires a small amount of land to cultivate.
